The US Friends of Chalmers/CING members in Southern California met last week at Casa Svedlund (M68) in La Jolla for an evening of fellowship. Our members come for all over S California and this time the participant traveling the farthest distance was Tönis Tilk who drove down from Manhattan Beach! Also joining us for the evening was our most recent ‘Honorary San Diego Chalmerist’ Erik Mjoen from UCSD. Erik is an Associate Director at the UCSD Industry Engagement Career Center and he shared with us some of the programs UCSD has in place to assist its graduates to find good jobs – very, very interesting. Bo Hedfors and Marianne Ericsson also talked about the most recent – quite impressive – 3 US Friends of Chalmers Scholarship recipients that they met both at the annual CING event in Seattle and also at Chalmers earlier this fall. The Scholarships have attracted some very well qualified US students that are studying for their Masters Degree in fields where Chalmers holds a world leading position.
But then we also shared some good stories, enjoyed some good food including Andreas J’s home made Kanelbullar (October 4 Kanelbullens Dag) – and of course something good to drink!
Next So Cal gathering of US Friends of Chalmers is planned for Thursday January 10 in La Jolla – mark your calendars!
