Club Emil in Dallas and Silicon Valley

Dallas Chapter
The US Friends of Chalmers Texas chapter arranged a yellow pea soup, punsch and pancake event together with SACC Dallas on 10/26. The 32 attendees maxed out the space at the Scandinavian Store Wooden Spoon in Plano, TX. Gwen Werkman, together with her staff, prepared and served all the delicious food, she has the yellow pea soup down to a T! The participants were of course Chalmers Alumni, SACC members and some from other lesser known Swedish engineering schools. Peter Linder also brought guests from Sweden and his uncle from Anderstorp retold stories about the glorious Formula 1 days when Ronnie Pettersson was driving. There was a lot of singing under the lead of our Toastmaster Peter Dicksson. However, since we didn’t manage to drink all the punsch so there will be another Club Emil in the not too far future – stay tuned!

Silicon Valley Chapter
On Thursday, October, 2017, 9 Chalmers alumni, family and friends gathered for Club Emil ärtsoppa, pancakes and punsch at Staffan Nilsson’s residence in Silicon Valley. We had participation of employees from various local technology companies Google, Juniper, Flex, Apple, Nvidia and ABB.

We had a great brainstorming discussion about what kind of activities/ technology discussions/ webinars/ etc. can be considered for upcoming gatherings. We are open to new ideas so please don’t hesitate to connect with me, I would like to hear your opinion.

We sang old songs and ate an amazing smoked salmon, prepared from scratch by Staffan. He even used a couple of branches from an old cedar tree in his back yard to enhance the taste of the smoked salmon. The artsoppa and pancakes were delicious. It is worth mentioning that we finished the last of the punsch bottles that were donated by the former president and chairman of U.S. Friends of Chalmers. Now it is time to order more!

I’m looking forward to the next alumni gathering in Silicon Valley.
